The 7 Second Rule

When I go to your website for the first time, the following questions go through my head:
How can your service or product make my life better?
Why should I purchase from you?
Do you have a tempting offer?
Could I get a better agreement somewhere else?

If your website can answer my questions within 7 seconds, I will stay. Unfortunately, most businesses define what they offer in uninteresting, common phrases that do not differentiate them from other competing offers and for that I will leave your website within 7 seconds.

If you make the same mistake, and you’re unable to make something unique about your business you’re not going to make several sales as you should be.

Do You Have a Real Value Proposition?

Your value proposition is a short statement of value that describes why someone should do business with you instead of your competitors. The typical business owner thinks their business has got a value proposition, but very few fully understand the concept.

Let’s say you sell life insurance, and then your value proposition is your answer to this question: “Why should I buy life insurance from you rather than from any other life insurance company?” When you have a crystal-clear answer to that question, then you have yourself a powerful value proposition.

Seems simple, but when we ask business owners about their value proposition the answers, we frequently get are unclear, confusing and does not separate them from their competitors. They would base their value on things such as ‘good service’ for example.

A Value Proposition That Generates More Sales

If you want to change more people into clients, it is vital that your website believably defines what is matchless about your offering. Although there are other things you can do on your website to grow conversion rates, there is no other single factor that can have such a big influence on whether you’re going to be successful or not.

If you’re powerless to pinpoint your business value, it will be easy for competitors to copy what you do, and you will always be subject to the lowest market prices.

Problem Solving Content Over Everything

We all know that content is king. Content is what keeps you relevant and distinct from all your competitors. Customers are always searching for solutions online and businesses are constantly competing with that market by producing relevant content and applying SEO practices to help them rank high on relevant search engines. If you can solve your customers’ needs/problems, then you have a greater chance of converting that customer into a returning buying customer. This will help you build a stable relationship with your customers and most importantly, they will have confidence in your products and services, and they will easily refer you to the next person. Now you may ask, where is the value in that?

Helping a customer solve their problems will bring you more value than rands but they can give your business a positive review and a testimonial that will convince other potential customers to try out your services.
